Data and algorithms can tell us a lot, but they can’t quite capture the heartbeat of a career. When I started, I saw executive recruiting as a way to connect skills to roles. I’ve since learned it’s really about matching people to the right places- places where they’ll be seen, valued, and able to grow. In the legal industry, where stakes and expectations are high, it’s even more critical to connect on a human level and understand not just what people can do, but why they want to do it and what will make them stay.
I’ve always believed that real connections start with listening. It sounds simple, but in practice, it’s everything. When a candidate or client trusts that I’m genuinely interested in their goals, not just their credentials, they’re willing to share the details that matter. It’s in these moments-when people feel understood-that’s when real connections form. And those connections are what makes my role as an executive recruiter more than just finding “fits.” I’m focused on building relationships that bring value to both sides for the long haul.
Every candidate brings something unique to the table, and every firm has its own rhythm. The magic is in finding where those two align. That’s why I spend as much time listening to what clients and candidates say as I do asking questions that let me get to the heart of what they’re looking for. With each conversation, I aim to peel back the layers, to see the motivations, the worries, and the goals that aren’t always obvious on the surface.
Before I came to executive recruiting, my work was in industries where connecting with people wasn’t just encouraged; it was required. I’ve managed portfolios, coordinated events, and led projects where listening and communicating were essential. I learned to adapt to different personalities and needs, building trust along the way. Every job I’ve held has shaped my understanding of people and taught me that real connections don’t come from quick wins- they come from consistency and authenticity.
Now, I bring that same mindset to executive recruiting. I don’t just focus on qualifications; I focus on people. By learning what motivates each candidate, I’m able to match them with roles that genuinely align with their values and goals. I ask the questions that help me see beyond the resume because I’ve seen how powerful it is when a person feels known and appreciated. Clients see the impact, too, because hiring someone who feels aligned with the role and culture means they’re more likely to stay and succeed.
To me, executive recruiting goes beyond filling roles- it's about helping people find the right fit where they can thrive and seeing firms grow stronger with the right talent. I’m excited to bring this approach to every client and candidate at KHS People, knowing that people skills still matter in a world of metrics and KPIs. They bring depth and insight that goes beyond data, allowing us to see potential where others might only see profiles.
Focusing on people is what makes this work so fulfilling. I know we can create connections that have a lasting impact, and ultimately, that’s what makes each placement meaningful-knowing it’s a step toward something bigger than just a job description.
